I've been to loads of conferences. I've attended as a guest, and exhibitor and a speaker for my entire professional life. I thought I knew what to expect at Dreamforce, another conference. But, I wasn't prepared.
I prepared for a conference, but Dreamforce is an extravaganza. It was choreographed in every single detail. Nothing was left to chance. Whoever put it together is a genius.
There was so much to see and do, and it was impossible to do everything because so many events were taking place simultaneously. I carefully planned my time to get as much out of the event as possible. Here are just a few of the many highlights of Dreamforce.
5 Highlights of Dreamforce
My first impression of Dreamforce was from the taxi window as we drove past on the way to the hotel. I've never been blown away by an entrance before, but there is a first time for everything. It delivered the wow factor, and I immediately knew I needed to be a part of it.
Marc Benioff and Bono
One of the first talks I went to was between Marc Benioff and Bono. It was such a popular talk that there was quite a queue, but I just had to be there. And it was definitely worth the wait.
Bono told his life story. He explained how music filled the hole after his mother died. How his entire outlook on life changed, and how it fuelled him to do and be better.
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Continuing on the theme of music, I also had the privilege to see the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. You didn't need a ticket, as long as you had the right badge you could just walk in, and I managed to get a seat eight rows from the front. What an experience.
Dreampitch: The Ecopreneurs
Dreampitch was a competition between three entrepreneurs. They pitched their sustainable and innovative businesses live, and then the audience and the judges selected a winner. Brian Tsuyoshi Takeda won with his business Urchinomics.
It was brilliant watching people at the top of their game pitching ideas that benefit people and the planet in equal measures.
Not to be outshone by their show stopping list of guests, Salesforce launched a new product, Salesforce Genie.
It is a real-time CMS that is intuitive and easy to use. I expected nothing less from a company who pulls off an event as spectacular as Dreamforce every year.
The Magic of Dreamforce
The whole event had an incredible momentum and an energy that blew my mind. It was revitalising to be surrounded by people that are just like me; people with the same calling and philosophy around global warming and net-zero.
Dreamforce re-energised me as an entrepreneur. It redoubled my desire to keep doing what I am doing. If I have ever wavered on my philosophy before, I didn't then. The whole conference was centred around the message: You can do it, and then you can do more.
